Sometimes when you start to market your business you start with the more complex forms of marketing and fail to see the simple ways to market. Most of us start with a big advertising campaign and spend a fair bit of money doing direct advertising with many publications. This can be quite costly and not leave much money for any other types of marketing. There are several simple and relatively cheap ways to advertise that can be very effective.
Here are some ways to advertise-your-business using simple but effective tactics.
• Signature file: Many people overlook this important free selling tool. This is a small piece of text at the bottom of each email you write. Do not make this an advertisement just 2-3 lines about you. For example mine would be Regards Cathy Qazalbash, Freelance writer/copywriter, and my website address
You can have several different ones, depending on whom you are communicating to. For instance when writing to my subscribers I would say: Best wishes Cathy Qazalbash, publisher of my ezine and website address. Whereas to a client or a prospective customer I might write Regards Cathy Qazalbash, Freelance writer/copywriter, my website address.
Sigs, as these small pieces of text are called, can be a very powerful tool, especially if you combine them with a PS. The PS will always be noticed by the reader, bringing your point across and the PS will draw attention to your to your signature file and tell people who you are and what you do.
• Article distribution: Write or have written some interesting articles about your business with your bio and permission for others to use. Either distribute them for free to all libraries and directories, or use a service for a nominal fee. This is a very powerful advertising tool when done right especially if you have a service. Always be careful to copyright your work and make sure you add your bio box. Your permission for publication should be at the top and should read you have permission to publish this article as long as you publish it in its entirety and include the bio box.
• Ad swaps and article swaps: You can swap ads and articles with other publishers in related fields. This technique may not sell much but can gain targeted subscribers. An ad for your ezine is very effective as an ad swap. This will not cost you anything and will build your business list with valuable subscribers. These 3 simple tactics are very effective tools to advertise your business. They will help you spread the word about your company and expand your business. As more people get to know about you your business will grow into a profitable enterprise.
