If you want to increase your web traffic, you can use the results from your tracking reports. You should have been tracking the ads, content, ad media and products that is making you the sale and top money, in your online business. You need to know how much you are making within specific periods of time.

If you have not been tracking your promotional activities online, you can start now. What you will need is to assign a tracking code to the links that refer others to your website. A tracking code can be a number, alphabet or a combination of the two. Hence if your website url link is http:// www (dot)abc(dot)com and you want to use the tracking code - A123, your url link will then be http:// www(dot)abc(dot)com?A123, the? symbol allows you to place anything you want after url links.

If you have been promoting or selling for a while, your tracking report on the ad media that is making you the sale or top money, will let you know the media you should use in your next promotion and what to use first. To boost your web traffic, you can then add similar ad media like these to your promotional list. Adding more ad media based on what is working for you, will give you better leverage.

You may also increase your web traffic through your web visitors, and by building viral marketing tactics into your promotional materials and content.

'Email this to a friend' is a script you can add to the bottom of your web page, it usually has a button web visitors can click and send a copy (that is a link) of your web content to anyone they want. If your content is relevant and provides valuable information, your web visitors may send copies of it to their friends, increasing the traffic to your website.

You may also include social bookmarking buttons on your website, that will allow web visitors to bookmark your web content on social bookmarking sites. You may get these buttons for free at AddThis.com.

You may also create free ebooks on your site that can be downloaded and given to others for free. Your free ebooks will contain url links to your website and will probably reach locations on the internet you may not even know exist, extending your reach.

You can even set up an affiliate program. Affiliates can skyrocket your web traffic and sales, you will need to know how to manage and get the best out of them however, in order to reap the benefits of using them for your promotions. You can set up your own affiliate program in-house or make use of affiliate networks who may also recruit your affiliates for you. You cannot rely on that though, most often than not, you will have to do your own promotions to get affiliates for your products. Before setting up your affiliate program in-house, you may want to try the affiliate networks first, to see how it works.
