Ebook Creation and How To Choose Your Niche

One of the first things you need to do before typing the first work of your new book is to choose the niche. This is extremely important to get right at the beginning because changing your niche later will usually mean abandoning all of your work done so far.

There are a number of ways to choose a niche and there is no such thing as the "perfect niche". However, there are many suitable niches for you to try your hand at.

What Do You Have A Passion For?

This is by no means essential but it does help a great deal if you have a passion for the subject that you want to write about.

For example, if you have successfully raised a couple of dogs and you love anything and everything about dogs then it is logical for you to write a book on dog training, for example.

The more passion you have for a subject then the more about it that you can easily write without worrying about the possibility of writer's block.

Is It A Profitable Niche?

Many people make the mistake of choosing a niche that they have a strong passion for but for which next to no market exists for it.

With the advent of the internet, you don't need to choose a mass market niche like weight loss or building muscle. But by the same token, you also don't want to write about how to get rid of a specific pest that is native to only one country in the world.

You might have a passion for such a subject but there simply aren't enough people in the world and on the internet that will buy your book and justify your spending the time (and possibly money) writing it.

Hungry Buyers?

If you write a book for a group of people who really need it then it will be much easier to promote to them and make the sale.

For example, a guide on how to cure debilitating and disfiguring acne will sell much better than a guide on how to grow bananas. A guide on how to make money by trading forex will sell much better than a guide on nice places to see on the East coast.

It is not Absolutely Essential?

For your prospects to be desperate for help but your own product should ideally be a solution to a real life problem. If it is, then people will seek you out and you will make sales this way.
