It is a daunting task and even intimidating for some small websites. To get people to visit your website is not easy. There are a lot to consider and a number of things to do about them. Do not fret though. These helpful tips will get you up and running and start hauling some serious website traffic.

1. Keywords - Essential to web pages as water is essential to plants. Think a lot about what key words to use before writing your content. When you already decided about the topic of your page, build it around the related keyword or key phrase. Say you are making an article about sword fights, make sure that "sword fights" is included several times in the page and appears in the beginning and at the end of your article.

2. Title and Meta Tags - You should be aware of "meta tags" if you are using HTML. Make sure to use your keywords in the Meta description a number of times, and the title tags at the top of your HTML at least twice, and put the keyword in the Meta keyword area too. You need to optimize the use of the so called "Meta Tags". "Meta tags" are software codes that the search engines recognize when people search for certain keywords. When considering a title for your page, make sure to use the keyword or key phrase of your page in the title.

3. Good Content - This aspect is the essential on getting website traffic. You need to have important, relevant, well written, and well placed keywords or phrases to have good ranking in search engines. Credibility plays a lot on this aspect. Good reputation is a must in getting website traffic.

4. Search Engines - Have your pages submitted to big search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Go to each search engine and submit your pages individually. More linked searched engines, more web traffic.

5. Similar Web Sites -Find web sites that share similar topics or contents with your website. Exchange links. Trading links with other websites with related contents with yours will also increase your website traffic.

6. Forums & Message Boards - Visit forums and message boards. Ask and answer some question. Do not forget to be polite. Make sure to have a signature under your comments that links to your website to get more website traffic. If people like what you wrote on the forum, there is a good chance that they will learn more about you and check out your site.

7. Update Regularly - There will be no point for people to visit your site if it is yesterday's news. Update regularly. Daily if you can manage. Keep once a week as your minimum. With constant update, getting website traffic will be a walk in the internet park.
