When you see Donald Trump, you can't help but feel envious of his success. Numerous mansions, beautiful wives, expensive cars, and bank accounts so fat they'd have to be labeled morbidly obese. What did this man do to be so rich in the first place? What makes him so successful?

It turns out the "Donald" is not only rich because of his real estate company, the Trump Organization. He also owns a variety of other companies, such as Trump Entertainment Resorts, which operates a chain of hotels and resorts all over the world. Adding to that, he also happens to own his own reality show, the hugely-successful The Apprentice. Having a lot of successful companies can really bring in the fame and fortune; the same can be true when you have a portfolio of established websites.

Though you won't as famous or as rich as Donald Trump, you can still be profitable through building a portfolio of established websites. In that sense, you will have multiple websites under your wing, running on autopilot 24 hours, 7 days a week, and earning a profit for you while you can just sit back, relax, and watch.

So where does the beginner start? First off, you would need a website that is attractive enough to generate a good amount of traffic. To do that, your website should be based on a particular theme or topic which is popular around a smaller audience, and continuously build on that. It could be a blog, forum, anything which will ensure a dedicated fan base to your website. Topics could be about cars, doing homework, earning extra income, etc. Having a niche is important as it will attract visitors and ensures that the old ones do not leave anytime soon.

As soon as you get a good amount of traffic the next step would be to choose a suitable domain name for your site. For the money to start flowing in, have companies advertise relevant products and services in your place. Keep in mind that a smaller audience means you would be able to better convince prospective buyers to purchase their products and services. Always remember to continually promote your website so there will be a reliable and steady flow of traffic.

After your one website becomes successful, this is the time when you can start the process all over again. Make another website with a different theme or topic, and do the same steps again. Keep in mind that there is no limit to the number of websites you can make, so if you want to make a bigger profit, go ahead and make more.

Successful entrepreneurs view the Internet as a virtual real estate, where they play the role as developers and turn that piece of land into something valuable and profitable. More than just thinking of profits, they work outside of their comfort zones and continue to invest, with the overall goal of increasing their portfolio, and ultimately their net worth.

If you want to be just as successful, don't be afraid to start now. The virtual world is a gold mine; it's time to build your own virtual empire, and make some real money.
