Affiliate and internet marketing is so heavily reliant on keyword tools, that without one all affiliates today would be nowhere. Everyone consults this type of tool, because they provide information on what exactly people out there today are searching for, and provide the affiliate marketer with inspiration as well. The main reason that people use keyword tools, however, it to find keywords that are 'niche' enough to promote to with PPC or article marketing.

Using a keyword tool is effective, and this article contains five top keyword tool tips.

Tip one: Turn on CPC. CPC stands for Cost Per Click, and is the cost that you could expect to pay if you were doing paid marketing. If you're a PPC marketer, then this should most certainly be on. After all, you're going to be paying for it all! However, even if you are an article marketer, you should have it on as well. It will reveal what people are paying for the different keywords, and if they are profitable or not. If no one is paying for a keyword then it probably isn't that profitable for them. If you're an article marketer, then that doesn't mean you should ignore it.

Tip two: Sort by monthly search volume. Sort your results by the search volume and you'll bring the keywords that you are interested in right to the top of your page. After all, we're affiliate marketers, and are after the less searched for keywords, we simply don't stand a chance when taking on those hundreds of searches keywords!

Tip three: Always check in a search engine. If you're an article marketer, then this is utterly important. Fire up a search engine, and type in the keyword surrounded by double quotations. This will return only the webpages with that exact phrase on them, and if there are less then twenty thousand results then you're good to go. Always write articles based on this, rather then the amount of searches that the keyword tool says it has. Perform this keyword tool tip inside of Yahoo, as Google has an annoying bug in it.

Tip four: Don't totally rely on the keyword tool. I only use the keyword tool for finding out new keywords, and not for knowing exactly how many people are searching for it. After all, their results for the search volume are simply estimates, and you shouldn't totally rely on them.

Tip five: Go crazy. There is no reason that you should confine your searches to something like 'weight loss', or 'internet marketing' or whatever your market is. Type in a totally specific keyword to your niche, and just see what the keyword tool brings back. It works better then you thought possible.

So there you go. My top five keyword tool tips when using one of the most important tools that you can have as an affiliate marketer. After all, they provide you with inspiration, more high quality keywords that you can promote to, and can give you the information that perhaps you wanted to create that 'killer campaign'.
