StumbleUpon is an excellent bookmarking website which will bring you lots of free traffic to your website. Those who do not have their own website will enjoy using StumbleUpon to bookmark their favorite websites, or just to browse the internet.

When you sign up, you will be provided with a toolbar which is compatible with Internet Explorer and Firefox only, but if you do not have these browsers you can use the virtual toolbar which shows up during your stumbling session.

StumbleUpon works a little different than other bookmarking sites by taking its users to random sites of interest. In your profile you can choose what kind of websites you are interested in, and then when you hit the stumble button, it will take you to websites related to your interests. During your stumbling session you can decide whether you want to stumble across news sites, videos, or websites on a certain topic only.

Once you land on a new page, you can then give the page a thumbs up, or a thumbs down. You can also leave a short review telling others what you like or don't like about the website you stumbled upon.

You can also subscribe to other stumblers, or become friends with them. If you are using StumbleUpon for marketing purposes then you will want to get lots of subscribers, or friends. The reason for this is because the more subscribers you have the more your pages will get stumbled. In order to get lots of subscribers, you need to have good content.

StumbleUpon is mainly for personal websites, but if you have a commercial website you can still bookmark it with StumbleUpon if you become an advertiser. This of course will cost you, but the results could be well worth it.

Once a page is bookmarked, the traffic you will receive is long-term. Depending on how big your network is, you could get anywhere between 100 to 10,000 visitors in the first day that your site is bookmarked, and then it tapers down, but you will keep getting traffic to that page as long as people will give you a thumbs up on it.

So whether you just want to browse the web, or whether you want to use it for marketing purposes, StumbleUpon is a great place to be on the web. It has many different websites bookmarked in just about any niche or market, so anyone, no matter what the interests are, will enjoy using this awesome site.
