Are You Choked With Spam eMail?
Then Spam Arrest Is For You!

As an online small business owner you probably receive an enormous amount of unwanted spam email in your inbox daily. Especially if, like me, you have been using the same email address for several years (12 years in my case). I don't know about you but this can get really annoying.

But What Can We Do to Fight It You Ask?

This is what I have done to fight spam:

I signed up with Spam Arrest. Spam Arrest is a whitelist or challenge/response spam-fighting service.

I first discovered Spam Arrest after I sent a message to someone using a form on his Website. After I hit the submit button, I found a new message in my inbox that read: "I'm protecting myself from receiving junk mail. Just this once, click the link below so I can receive your emails. You won't have to do this again."

I clicked the link and ended up at Spam Arrest.

Why does Spam Arrest Work So Well?

Only people in your address book can email you. When someone new emails you (or a spammer), they receive an email from Spam Arrest which requires that they verify themselves as a human being (not a virus-infected server being used by a spammer). Only emails that are sent by verified people can get through to your inbox.

Step by Step:

1. Someone sends you an email that arrives at your mail server.

2. Spam Arrest connects to your mail server and downloads the message.

3. If the sender is on your "authorized senders" list, the message will end up in your inbox next time you hit send/receive in your email client.

4. If the sender is not on your "authorized senders" list, Spam Arrest will send out, on your behalf, a message like the one above that asks the sender to click on a link included in the message.

5. After they click the link, the sender is directed to a page on the Spam Arrest web site. This page automatically generates an image of a word and asks the sender to enter it into a form and submit it. The sender is now verified and added to your "authorized senders" list. Next time he sends you and email it will be directly sent to your inbox.

6. Your email client connects to the Spam Arrest server and downloads the email waiting for you.

As almost all unwanted email is sent automatically, and the verification process described above needs to be completed by a human being, the spam will never reach your inbox.

Mailing lists and newsletters:

Unlike other Spam filters, Spam Arrest doesn't block newsletters and other subscription-based emails. The only thing you'll have to do is add them to your "authorized senders" list by entering the "from" address that's used by the sender.

How to Sign Up:

Spam arrest offers a 30 day free trial period. During the sign up process you'll need to provide your email address, mail server, username and login. After you complete the process, you'll need to change the settings for your incoming mail server to the ones provided by Spam Arrest.

After you've successfully changed the mail server settings in your email client, you're ready to use Spam Arrest.

04 August 2008 Update: I have been using Spam Arrest for over a year, and when I first started I was getting over 500 junk emails each and every day. That kind of email dumping into my email program made email unusuable. Over the past year, since signing up with Spam Arrest, that number dropped to about 200 per day. That alone was a significant improvement. Last week suddenly my junk email hitting my pending folder dropped to about 20 or 30 per day. That was the biggest drop ever! I can only conclude that the big spammer mail lists scrubbed me from their automated lists because all my mail is bounced and not delivered to me. It did end up in my pending folder but never made it to my inbox. Well done Spam Arrest!

How Do I Get Spam Arrest:

You can give Spam Arrest a try for 30 days. Just click on the ad below or click here to get started. If you don't like the service, it's very easy to disconnect it from your email account.
